Is wearing hijab and a Human Resources professional a challenge?

As a Muslim woman in Human Resources profession, I had to teach myself initiatives for self-empowerment in self defence while combating Islamophobia in this current climate in order to dispel the misconceptions about wearing hijab.

Reflecting back my career journey and experience to date both in paid and voluntary positions, I have always recommended especially to Muslim women and of course non-Muslim women to be accountable and remember we all are human. When I first started my career in HR as an attendance and absence management resource analyst then was a temporary position, naively I thought I was a superhero and I could solve the world's problems. I eventually found I had a lot to learn: HR is not black and white, I didn't have all the answers and I would make mistakes along the way and learn. All of this helped me grow and develop in my career today. However, many years you think you have learnt everything in HR, note there is still a lot more to keep grasps off almost every day just like many other professions.
