Laissez-faire leadership often referred to as “leave them alone” style of leadership can be used to a great advantage, this often extends the freedom and flexibility to act on their own within policy guidelines set by the organisation, as a result these organisation can be fortunate enough to have highly capable leaders who know far more about certain technical areas.
This type of leadership styles also involves giving complete freedom to subordinate in making and implementing those decisions. It is easier management style to administer thereby allowing visionary workers the opportunity to do what they want to do free from interference.
The downside of this type of leadership style is that poor decision making may result; especially if employees do not perform well within direction and supervision. It is recommended to have competent people around you or nothing will be done.
There is a saying as I quote “No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself or get all credit for doing it”.
