  • Don’t be late – show up some minutes early.

  • Do your homework – know the company and role, ask you questions such as “why do you want to work here”.

  • Know your business – Research salaries at the company.

  • Be more than ready – come prepared with three copies of resume, note pad and a pen.

  • Be Alerted – Dress appropriately.

  • Remember everyone matters – the receptionist is just as important as the head of the team.

  • Make your mark – a firm handshake, make eye contact and smile.

  • Show your true colour – Calm yourself and power pose.

  • Show off your work – have a few examples of your projects. Show project management, teamwork, taking initiatives and adaptability by explaining your role in these projects.

  • Be one step ahead – know when an interviewer is asking a behavioural or competency question.

  • Wrap up nicely – follow up with a thank you note.

  • Have self-assurance – Avoid phrases like “ I would and normally”

  • Be curious – Ask everyone or the interview team questions.

  • Plan for the upcoming – As you are thanking everyone for their time, ask about their timeline for making a decision.
